Bellarine Glossy Grassy Skinks with Jules Farquhar

  • Marcus Hill Memorial Hall 662-670 Banks Road Marcus Hill, VIC, 3222 Australia (map)

Jules Farquhar from Monash University will share his knowledge about the fascinating Glossy Grass Skink, a rare wetland reptile found on the Bellarine.

Learn why this animal matters, how to identify it, where it lives, the threats it faces, and why our local wetlands are so important for its survival.

You'll also discover how you can contribute sightings through citizen science and help protect this unique species for the future.

This event is supported by the Corangamite Catchment Management Authority through the Victorian State Government's Port Phillip Bay Fund.

Jules's talk will launch the Bellarine Glossy Grass Skink monitoring project, a two-year survey, with volunteers undertaking monthly monitoring of sites for Glossy Grass Skinks around Swan Bay.

The Bellarine Glossy Grass Skink monitoring project is a collaboration between Bellarine Landcare Group, the Geelong Field Nuturalist Club, Swan Bay Environment Association and Bellarine Catchment Network, and supported through the Corangamite Catchment Management Authority.
